We create free, one-time bouldering sessions for high school students aged 13–17 in Waterloo Region who face financial, social, or cultural barriers to sport. Every session is student-led, adult-supervised, and hosted at Grand River Rocks — Waterloo.
Access to Climbing was founded by Artur Tashbolotov, a Grade 12 student in Waterloo Region who found a home in rock climbing after traditional sports proved inaccessible. Unlike other environments, climbing was welcoming, accessible, and deeply rewarding.
When Artur invited friends who also struggled to find their place in traditional athletics, the transformation was undeniable. They didn't just learn climbing skills — they built physical capability, confidence, and strong friendships that helped ease feelings of loneliness.
Access to Climbing exists to share this spark. Our goal is to extend this experience to youth who feel they don't fit into traditional spaces — offering them a clear path to self-belief and community.
A welcoming space where youth build meaningful connections and a genuine sense of belonging.
A non-intimidating environment to conquer real challenges and realize personal potential.
Adjusting to a new community — climbing offers connection, belonging, and fun without language barriers.
For whom paid sport activities are out of reach — every session is completely free, no exceptions.
Underrepresented in climbing spaces — we're working to change that, one session at a time.
For those who don't fit into traditional team sports. Climbing is individual, low-pressure, and deeply social.
Student-led and adult-supervised — passionate about growth, sport, and community.
